Celebrating KSP x LA Local Graduates

Saturday, May 30, was a special day for KSP as we celebrated our amazing class of 2026! Hosted at the beautiful LA Local space, we celebrated graduates from each LA Local student journalism cohort, including Koreatown, Boyle Heights, and Inglewood & South LA.

KSP is so proud of all of our students who participated in this year’s joint cohort, which combined oral history and community journalism. Our students forged multi-generational connections, learned how to dig deeper into a story, and find interesting angles to share the stories of our community that often go unnoticed.

Shoutout to our KSP grads: Rigo Lopez, Sarah Barnavon, Daniella Morales, and Heidy Montiel. Rigo was also awarded the $1,000 Carmen Gonzalez Scholarship!

Thank you to The LA Local for being incredible partners during this past year. Through this partnership, we developed a unique curriculum that allowed students to engage in rewarding community work through both oral history and journalism.
