Meztli Projects Teaches us Linocut
On Thursday, March 19, our longtime partners Meztli Projects taught an exciting workshop on linocut. We created our designs with inspiration from native plants, drawing and carving various designs onto linoleum sheets/rubber. Once our designs were ready, we stamped them onto paper to create prints to take home with us!
Polaroid Transfers Workshop with Dahlia!
On Thursday, March 12, KSP held our second arts workshop of our spring RYSE workshop series. Photographer Dahlia Kim Levy (IG @dahliasimonephotos) walked us through lifting polaroid images and transferring them to new surfaces.
Learning Bojagi (Traditional Korean Gift Wrapping)
On Saturday, March 7, KSP kicked off our new community arts workshop series with bojagi, or traditional Korean gift-wrapping. This workshop was led by Ellen Lee (aka @nossibojagi), a Los Angeles based bojagi artist who provides workshops around the city.
Poetry & Storytelling Workshop with Katherine Bahena-Benitez
On Thursday, Feb. 26, KSP welcomed back our friend Katherine Bahena-Benitez for a poetry and storytelling workshop. Katherine is a queer Mexican Indigenous multidisciplinary artist who has led poetry workshops for KSP for the past three years. Her workshop focused on the importance of storytelling as a means of preserving emotional truth and as a tool for liberation.
RYSE Up Community Arts Workshops
Through funding from the L.A. County Public Health’s Reimagining Youth SUD Engagement (RYSE) Initiative, KSP will be hosting FREE arts workshops to high school youth and community members to learn new techniques and co-create in community.
96-STORY: Documenting the Impact of ICE Raids in Los Angeles
Since the June 2025 ICE raids in Los Angeles, approximately 68,000 people have been detained. KSP is gathering first-person narratives to document this important moment in history from the people who have been directly affected.
Learning How to Make Bengali Food
On Thursday, December 18, KSP held a Benglai Foodmaking Workshop led by Rozina Al Salem. Rozina is a celebrated foodmaker from Little Bangladesh, and she taught us how to make a delicious butter chicken masala.
KSP at Futures Summit LA25 with Snap Foundation and Creative Futures Collective
Koreatown Storytelling Program recently attended the inaugural Futures Summit LA25, hosted at Snapchat headquarters and presented by Creative Futures Collective and the Snap Foundation. The event brought together artists, storytellers, and other creative orgs from across LA who are shaping the future of creative work.
“Day in my Life” by Raúl Cubias
As his final project of his student internship with Koreatown Storytelling Program, Raúl Cubias created a short-film documenting a day in his life. Raúl is a sophomore at RFK-LAHSA High School and plans to study photography and graphic design.
Portraiture Workshop with Las Fotos Project
Last Thursday, Oct. 23, KSP welcomed back our friends at Las Fotos Project for another photography workshop! They walked us through some photography basics, such as the difference between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Then, we got to practice our new skills and do a photoshoot, playing with different lightings and backdrops.
“What is Journalism?” with The LA Local
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, LA Local student journalism mentor Mallory Carra led an introductory “What is Journalism?” workshop! After delving into the principles of oral history in our first few weeks of the semester, students are now learning journalism basics.
Oral History Editing Workshop
On 10/7, KSP Audio Producer Tony Morales led a workshop on oral history editing techniques! Students went over how to transcribe and edit oral history interviews and archival practices. Then they broke into groups to practice editing real oral history interview transcripts!
The Library is Here! Short Film by Flora White
Our summer intern, Flora White, was inspired by her lifelong love for libraries and created a short film about our very own Pio Pico Koreatown Library Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library!
History of Koreatown Workshop at GenSpace
On Tuesday, September 30, KSP led a "History of K-Town" workshop at the beautiful Wallis Annenberg GenSpace, a community space for elders in the heart of Koreatown. Director Katherine Kim gave a presentation that detailed the history of Los Angeles’s Koreatown, including the three waves of Korean immigration to the U.S. as well as key historic events in our community’s history.
Screen Printing with Meztli Projects
Last Saturday, September 20, KSP held our first workshop of our new semester! We welcomed back our friends Joel Garcia and Miguelaxel Burrola from Meztli Projects, who led a workshop on screen printing at the KSP Treehouse. They guided us through the process of creating and printing our own designs, and we spent the next few hours printing on paper and clothing.

Together, we honor the strength of those on their recovery journeys and the youth who helped bring their stories to life.
August Dragonfly Arts Workshops
Throughout the month of August, we hosted a new workshop series called Dragonfly Workshops, which consisted of five arts workshops open to the community. We wrapped the series up with a zine-making workshop, where we created our own zines using the art we created throughout the month! Check out our digital version of our zine in this post!

KSP x BHB: High School Student Alex Newman Reflects on L.A. Fires
In this article Sarah Barnavon interviews Alex Newman, a high school student in the Los Angeles area. Alex lost her home to the Palisades fire, which burned over 23,000 acres of land, and many others lost their houses in the Eaton Canyon fire, which burned 14,100 acres across Altadena. These fires not only caused a serious tragedy in the Los Angeles community but also immense destruction throughout the city.
