The LA Local
They’re over 55 and learning how to socialize all over again in Koreatown
The nonprofit Bresee Foundation brings together students and senior citizens to build a community and combat isolation.

This article by Rigoberto Lopez is part of a yearlong youth journalism cohort between The LA Local and the Koreatown Storytelling Program.

Every Thursday morning, a group of seniors meets at the Bresee Foundation for coffee. That small ritual has turned into something bigger. Rigo’s article follows Generation2, a summer program that pairs high schoolers with adults 55 and older to learn technology together, and explores the friendships that grow from it. Rigo’s article was published in the LA Local on June 29, 2026.
