Seoul International Park in Koreatown

In park-poor Koreatown, Seoul International Park provides a place for unity, play
As one of the few green spaces in Koreatown, Seoul International Park offers community members a crucial hub for recreation and gathering.

This article by Terin Lee is part of a yearlong youth journalism cohort between The LA Local and the Koreatown Storytelling Program.

Koreatown has only five parks spread across 2.9 square miles. Terin’s piece explores what that scarcity means for a neighborhood of over 112,000 people. Seoul International Park does a lot with its two acres, hosting youth sports leagues, after-school programs, and community rallies alongside families just trying to find a patch of grass. Terin spoke with longtime residents and city officials about the park’s role as one of the neighborhood’s few shared spaces, and what it might look like as the city plans upgrades ahead of the 2028 Olympics. Terin’s article was published in the LA Local on June 16, 2026.
