Creating Collages and Altars Out of Altoid Tins!

In our latest RYSE workshop, we created tiny altars and memory boxes out of Altoid tins. Led by Piper, this workshop was all about piecing together memories, images, colors, and other elements into a portable package. Piper showed us inspiration from various forms of altars, such as wayside shrines from different religions and cultures, as well as military pocket shrines, which were small, portable items carried by WWI and WWII soldiers for divine protection or comfort. We then created our own pocket altars using photos, fabrics, buttons, and charms!

Thank you Piper for teaching this workshop! These workshops are in collaboration with the Department of Public Health’s Substance Abuse Prevention and Control Bureau for their RYSE initiative.
